Teaching Assistant

Schedule:
Orientation: week of June 9 (hours can be flexible)
Classes: June 16 through August 1 (9am-5pm)
Studio clean-up: week of August 4 (hours can be flexible)
Reports to:
Lauren Silver, Associate Curator for Education
Kamau Patton, Visiting Artist in Residence
Compensation:
$11/hour

Duties: Assist artists who will be teaching studio art classes for children entering grades K through 8. Responsibilities will vary but will include setting up and cleaning up the studio; helping children with projects; supervising children in the studio, museum galleries, and on field trips around campus; communicating with parents; and assisting artists and museum staff with class logistics as needed.

Qualifications
: Enjoy working with children and be comfortable in a studio classroom setting; teaching experience is not necessary. Be comfortable working with and talking about art and spending time in museum galleries; artistic talent is not required. Able to take direction from a variety of instructors who may have different teaching and communication styles. Responsible, reliable, and organized; should have a friendly manner and be able to interact with children and their parents.
