The Cantor Arts Center offers free public and private docent tours and welcomes self-guided tours:

Attend a Public Tour

Public docent tours are offered many times throughout the week and are open to all on a drop-in basis. Tours meet in the main lobby unless otherwise noted. To learn more about the types of tours available and when they are offered, click here.

Request a Private Tour
Private docent tours must be scheduled at least six weeks in advance as slots fill up quickly. Tours requested less than six weeks in advance may not be accommodated. Private tours are for groups of 10 to 40 people, not including chaperones. Please let us know if your numbers change as this will affect the number of docents assigned. You may request a tour one of three ways:

  1. Fill out the online registration form
  2. Download the tour registration form
  3. Call the Tour Scheduler at 650-723-3469

The Cantor plays a strong role in arts education for students of all ages. Schools from across the Bay Area enhance their curriculum by attending tours of the Cantor's diverse, encyclopedic collections. We encourage all educators to specify learning goals and interest areas on their tour request form. Click here to learn more about the collection.

Register a Self-Guided Tour

Self-guided tours do not involve a docent but must be registered at least six weeks in advance. Teachers or group leaders must register if the group size exceeds 10 people. Groups may not exceed 40 people and should be divided into 10 or fewer in the galleries. All groups with participants under the age of 18 must have at least one adult supervising every 10 children.

You may register a self-guided tour one of three ways:

  1. Fill out the online registration form
  2. Download the tour registration form
  3. Call the Tour Scheduler at 650-723-3469

If you bring a group over 10 people without registering, we may not be able to accommodate you when you arrive. Please refer to the self-guided groups guidelines for more information.
