School Tours

Docent-led tours are available to school groups with a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 40 students per hour-long tour slot.

School tours of the Anderson Collection are now available for high school groups with a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 30 students per hour-long tour slot.


Requests must be submitted at least six weeks in advance. To request a private docent-led tour for your school group, please click here.



For school groups (K-12) or groups of children under the age of 18, one chaperone is required for every 10 children. Please refer to the chaperone guidelines for more information.

Close Looking: Highlights from the Collection. An introduction to the museum and significant works from the Cantor's permanent collection. Practice close looking where curiosity and conversation are encouraged.


Picturing Stories: Explore artwork across time, place and culture and discover how artists use storytelling in their work.


People and Places - Real and Imagined: Discover the different ways in which artists represent people and place.


Modern and Contemporary: Explore how artists develop new means of expression to respond to social, political, cultural and technological changes.


Ideas, Materials and Process: Learn about an object from the materials the artist chose, the form that it takes, and the way that is was made.


The Museum will also continue to offer a limited number of California: The Art of Water tours for K-12 groups through November 10.
