The Faces of Ruth Asawa is a single-object, long-term installation of 233 ceramic face masks Asawa created of friends, family members, and fellow artists. This is the first of three exciting exhibitions related to the Asian American Art Initiative opening at the Cantor in 2022.
Explore Asian American and Asian diaspora artists and their work at the Cantor, upcoming exhibitions and events. This recently established initiative is a significant effort to acquire, preserve, display and research Asian American art.
Organized in chronological sections that highlight key moments of intersection between Asia and the United States, this exhibition features artists who worked between and beyond these worlds.
Mourning Rituals is a performance-based video reimagining the Korean ssitkimgut ritual, during which the spirits of the deceased are cleansed and guided into the afterlife.
This exhibition explores how ideas of citizenship, home, and nationalism acquire complex meanings.
