As a major Silicon Valley employer, Stanford seeks people committed to excellence and to improving our world. In turn, the university is committed to supporting its employees as they develop their careers and enrich their lives. We believe Stanford’s future success will be shaped by the diverse perspectives, unique experiences, and inclusive culture of its community.

Founded when the university opened in 1891, the Cantor Arts Center is an established resource for teaching and research on campus, and for the broader Bay Area community. The Cantor’s collection spans 5,000 years and includes 41,000 works of art from around the globe, and the museum presents some 15 special exhibitions each year. In 2014, the Anderson Collection at Stanford University opened next to the Cantor Arts Center, featuring a world-class collection of modern and contemporary American paintings and sculpture including Bay Area Figuration, Abstract Expressionism, and Light and Space Minimalism.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Strategic Partnerships for the Cantor and the Anderson, the Digital Marketing Coordinator (Temporary/Part Time) will support both the Cantor Arts Center (85% time commitment) and the Anderson Collection (15% time commitment), working to develop, align, and implement communication strategies that advance the missions of the two Stanford art museums and engage diverse audiences. This role is part-time and contingent, and requires approximately 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be required depending on needs. The hourly rate of pay is estimated at $32-$38 per hour, depending on the candidate’s experience.

  • Drive audience engagement and growth through both paid and organic social media initiatives, digital advertising, the e-newsletter, websites for both museums, and other digital platforms.
  • Manage the development and implementation of the social media and digital community strategy for the Cantor Arts Center and Anderson Collection, with the objective of cultivating audience growth and furthering media relations efforts.
  • Create and manage comprehensive digital editorial calendars, including maintaining brand standards through the institutions’ distinctive voices. Support awareness of and engagement with both museums through promotion of collections, exhibitions, academic programs, and public programs to the campus community and the public.
  • Manage digital ad buys and placements.
  • Develop and organize assets (copy, photography, and video) to be used across various digital media platforms.
  • Support the efforts of all departments across both museums in promoting their programs to the public and other stakeholders.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.

In order to be successful, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing in its many forms, and how to optimize all platforms given their ongoing evolution.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to employ both creative flair  and high attention to detail.
  • Experience with digital and social media marketing, both organic and paid.
  • Experience with project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Team player who is eager to collaborate with and learn from others.
