The Stanford art museums’ re-imagined gala, Museums by Moonlight, is set for September 28, 2019. This signature fundraising event benefits access to visual art at the Cantor Arts Center and the Anderson Collection at Stanford University, with a celebratory night under the stars. The first part of the evening, Dinner in the Garden, offers an artful cocktail hour and a uniquely designed dining experience. This is followed by The After Party, which brings together guests for a night of live performances, guest DJ, open bar, and late-night bites.
This year, we honor Roberta and Steve Denning for their exceptional leadership in the arts on-campus and beyond, and we are pleased to announce that artist Jordan Casteel, one of the most important emerging artists working today, will be the inaugural Artist Honoree. In 2019, we also mark the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Leland Stanford Junior Museum, now known as the Cantor, and the 5th anniversary of the Anderson Collection.
Support from this gala enriches our community through the extraordinary depth and breadth of educational programming and exhibitions at the museums. The impact of these programs extends to K-12 schools in three counties and to students from institutions throughout the Bay Area. And, of course, your support helps maintain free admission to the more than 300,000 annual visitors to the museums.
