The Stanford family traveled the world collecting objects of art and cultural interest. The museum, founded when the university opened in 1891, was created to make this collection available to students and the public.
This installation celebrates a special loan of five highlights of American abstract painting from the Anderson Collection at Stanford University by Richard Diebenkorn, Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and Clyfford Still.
