Modern and Contemporary American Abstraction showcases recent significant acquisitions by well-known abstract expressionists including Jackson Pollock, Franz Kline, and George Miyasaki. These works, all dating back to the 1950s, represent pivotal moments in each artist’s career, showcasing the stylistic developments that would later define their practices.

The exhibition also includes paintings by Helen Frankenthaler, Robert Motherwell, Jules Olitski, and Miyoko Ito, among others, creating a diverse presentation that provides insight into American abstraction. Jackson Pollock’s Green and White Square is on view for the first time in more than 20 years, and Untitled by George Miyasaki is being shown for the first time.
